Why Does it Matter if You Consume Too Much Sodium?
Excess sodium intake is linked to: high blood pressure, heart disease, strokes, and kidney disease.
Cutting back even a small amount can have a big impact on your overall health.
So how exactly is too much sodium really affecting our bodies?
The role of sodium at the cellular level is significant, when it reaches unbalanced levels sodium can cause many problems.
For one, when sodium concentrations in the blood are too high, the body tries to balance the difference by pulling water out of its cells and into the bloodstream. This is not healthy for our cells, they get dehydrated as water moves out of them. Dehydrated cells can lead to muscle tightness, cramps and spams, and stiffen movement which can reduce range of motion where even everyday movements become restricted and uncomfortable.
